Upon diagnosis of cancer, determining the correct prognosis is essential for patients in order to manage their disease effectively. The EpiSwitch™ technology provides a non-invasive and rapid test that is uniquely able to identify and stratify aggressive tumours through deregulation of key genes.
Currently, information such as stage, grade, and biomarker assays allow physicians to predict the likely outcome, and which treatments are suitable. However, obtaining this information requires multiple biopsies to be taken of the tumour and the surrounding lymph nodes, causing pain and other potential complications for the patient. Recently multiple genes have been identified and linked with the prognosis of various types of cancers. This is a significant step closer to more reliable outcome predictions and to the development of more sensitive biomarker based tests.
